I do not have a specific favorite designer, however, Doniella Davy’s makeup designs have caught my eyes recently. Davy is the Head Makeup Artist for the show Euphoria. The makeup used on this show includes bright unique colors for eye shadow, rhinestones & gems, and lots of glitter. These makeup looks are paired up with unique costumes as well. The artist explains that the makeup is supposed to represent modern teenage life in America and it had to go along with the fast-paced plot. But, most importantly, each specific design adds to the emotional and character development of each individual. For instance, pastel and bright colors help develop Jules’s identity (pictured on the left), while sharp eyeliner contributed to Maddy’s fierce persona, until that went away, along with the bright colors. Doniella Davy’s unique style of makeup led Euphoria to its nomination for Outstanding Contemporary Makeup in the 2020 Emmy’s amongst the show’s five other nominations.
