- 5 Elements of Design:
- Form, the use of silhouettes and drop shadows
- Value, the gradient of the roads/rivers
- Pattern, repeated silhouettes/roads
- Color, taking the color pallette from the maps to create cohesion
- Line, use organic lines taken from maps
- Color Palette
- All colors used were taken from a grayscale or selected from the maps themselves
This project is coming together really well. I can’t wait to see the end result. What if the people were mint green and lavender, picking up color clues from the maps instead of black?
Margaret, your final design is sophisticated and well thought out. I appreciate how you knit together the maps which hold importance to you and made the landscape feel unified. The gray figures in various shades play well on top of the maps and the line work activates the composition and creates movement. Congrats on a successful semester and I hope to see you in a Printmaking class one Spring semester. Enjoy some well deserved rest!
